Title: Anime Experience
Description: (Yes, we're getting some)

Mrs Redeyes - August 3, 2009 10:30 AM (GMT)
This weekend we have bought:

Laputa: Castle in the Sky (I remembered)
Bleach: Episodes 1 & 2
Naruto: Episodes 1 & 2

The first is a Ghibli production and we already know we like Hayao Miyazakis work, so although we haven't watched it yet we are expecting to enjoy it.

The other two came on a joint DVD which seemed to be an Anime "sampler" to see if you like the episodes before you go and buy the whole series. Since Mr Red had already heard good things about Bleach we decided to give it a go and found that we both really enjoyed both Naruto and Bleach. We're now hoping to start collecting the DVDs so we can watch them all.

I think one of the things I like about the Anime we've watched so far, is that it tells a story, a good story and well, but just has some of the most random stuff thrown in for good measure. Every once in a while we'll be watching and a completely unexpected, random element will come in and just knock my brain sideways!!

I'm looking forward to watching more....

Laputa is a classic. I hope you enjoyed it :)

Did you ever?

I never could be bothered with Naruto. I watched the first episode or two and just lost interest. My gf of the time thought it was excellent, as did her animé-virgin brother. I think it's pretty "accessible", but I prefer stuff that's a bit more original.

I really liked Bleach, but this time I lost interest after about 10 episodes. I don't know why, I just couldn't be bothered with it after a while.

Ironic really. Both series ran into the hundreds, so clearly very popular franchises.
