Title: Lady Things

JJW009 - February 2, 2010 11:35 PM (GMT)
A couple of the ladies at work wanted to talk about a recent visit to the doctors which involved "lady things". They looked at me, and decided to wait until I'd left the room.

When I returned, they hadn't quite finished. I joked "sorry, wasn't I out for long enough?" and then basically joined in the discussion. I now know all the "ins and outs" of this particular gynaecological adventure. We continued to discuss various related topics including contraception, menstruation, pregnancy and hormones.

I can understand how the lady concerned may have been embarrassed to talk about it in front of a man, but that wasn't her concern. Apparently her husband is so squeamish she was worried she'd upset me. I'm not in the slightest bit bothered; in fact I find it all rather interesting!

So, guys and gals. How do you feel about discussing intimate feminine issues with people of the opposite sex?

Doesn't overly bother me really.

I'd rather not hear all the gory details, but that applies to medical things in general, rather than just 'lady' problems.

I do think, though, a lot of women do hate discussing that sort of thing with men. I remember working a night shift in a hotel once, when a female guest phoned down and wanted to speak to a female staff member. This being 2AM, there were none around, but she insisted - and wouldn't tell me what it was about. So I had to wake up the duty manager (who happened to be female) to speak to her.
Turned out she'd just run out of tampons and wanted to know if we had any in reception. We did, of course.

I have no problem with it and I've had many conversations with female friends about that stuff. I can understand why some wouldn't want to talk to men about it though.

On a similar note if you had to see a doctor about man things, would you rather see a male doctor?

I wouldn't really care TBH.

A GP will probably see more wedding vegetables in their career than most pr0n stars, so it's not like it's anything they haven't seen before. So no, I'd have no problem with dropping my drawers for a female doctor.

Generally not phased by it at all.

Now I've said that I will probably get freaked out the next time it crops up in conversation.

I'm not sure if this is a "Men Only" poll, but my vote would be for "if any male people present don't object" it's polite when discussing things of a personal nature to make sure everyone's comfortable with the sibject matter.

If everyone's fine with it then I have no issue being graphic and detailed.

I have no problem with boy doctors and my lady bits either, tbh I pity the partners of gynae doctors, it must be hard having sex with someone who is unimpressed by your lady bits because he seems them all day every day. Same must go for lady docs and a chaps meat and two veg I suppose!!
