Title: Random stuff
Description: holy sh*t....

I was looking up film quotes, and I came accross
THIS rather nice bloggIt had a quote on it:
| QUOTE (Stephen F Roberts) |
| I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours. |
So now I'm wandering, if he was talking to himself, would one less god be an anti-god? can you believe in an anti-god without believing in a god? and does it matter?
I contend that there are only 2 religions in the world:
There is the Judao / Christian / Muslim / Siek monothiestic religion in which there is "One true god" - call him Alla or Bob, it makes no difference...
Then there are the pollythiestic religions, including the ancient Greek and Roman gods, Hinduism, Paganism and many others. Some talk of "spirits" rather than Gods, but that is a question of definition.
These polythiestic religions are quite happy to co-exist. When you do get wars between them, it's a question of "Our gods are bigger than yours!", which is nice. There's none of this "Heresy" crap where you burn people for believing in false gods etc...
You could almost call them "Eastern" and "Western" religions - but it hasn't quite split so neatly. Anyway - I propose the "Monotheistic" religion is clearly wrong. If there was one all-powerfull true god... then you'd think the majority of people would believe in him. Doesn't seem to be the case...
In addition to being wrong, I believe it is actually Evil. It spreads by fear of the Devil - I am the word of God, believe in me or burn in Hell for all eternity. It descriminates against all that is different; even each other. Consider Protostants and Catholics - what the Feck are they fighting about? How salty the wine is!?
So... I conclude that All gods are true gods, some bigger than others, with the exception of that which calls himself the "One True God" - which is actualy Evil.
The best trick the Devil ever pulled off - was convincing everyone he's the one true god.
Disclamer:
This crap just spewed out of my head for no reason. Its probably a load of rubbish, and I reserve the right to completely change my mind!

I find out my jobs by text - so the text might say "Go to Amex Manchester and fix their phones" ... or "Go to B&Q Coventry their video conferencing is knackered" or ...
"No jobs, stand by..."
Karen sent me the job ... I have no job...
hence, "Standby; love karen"
except she doesn't love me :(
RedeyesUK - September 17, 2005 12:36 AM (GMT)
ah, it all makes sense now!
i've had jobs like that, there's nothing better than the phrase 'you're on call tomorrow'
(literal meaning: go to the office, get breakfast from the wagon over the road, spend the morning surfing the net and playing Doom, while working out how much you're getting paid for doing this :D )
RedeyesUK - September 17, 2005 12:38 AM (GMT)
did you know:
London is actually the smallest city in the world
strange but true!
JJW009 - September 17, 2005 02:03 AM (GMT)
london ... mile ... it's Square ?
RedeyesUK - September 17, 2005 02:20 AM (GMT)
spot on - have a gold star!
the City of London is actually what we refer to as the Square Mile, and, being just 1 mile square, is not verybig at all. what we usually think of a London (Big Ben, Trafalgar Square etc) is actually in the City of Westminster - next time you're there, take a look at the street signs, you'll see what i mean.
another interesting fact:
the Queen is not allowed to travel through the City of London without formal permission from the Mayor!
paulpowers - September 17, 2005 06:52 AM (GMT)
this is a real address Google maps it
Poop Hill, West Chinnock, South Somerset, Somerset, TA18
 would you want to live there
JJW009 - September 18, 2005 09:28 PM (GMT)

RedeyesUK - September 21, 2005 01:56 AM (GMT)
git!
i need a new telly - well, technically i've got one, but i can't be bothered to go and pick it up :)
so if i buy a new one, some nice chap will come and deliver it for me B)
me not lazy...... ;)
(Lazy B**tards Anonymous)
Hi, my name's Garry, and I'm a lazy B**tard. i first started being lazy when i was a teenager, you know, to escape pressure from school exams and stuff. i guess it really got to be a problem when i got into my 20's........
RedeyesUK - September 21, 2005 03:54 AM (GMT)
random musings:
why do jars of honey have a best before date?
honey is a substance that just doesn't go off - archaeologists have found 3,000 year old pots of honey in Egyptian tombs that are still perfectly edible. (although whether you'd want to eat it is another matter  )
similarly, why does mineral water have a BB date? this is stuff that's been trickling through rocks for thousands of years, and yet as soon as it's put in a (sealed) bottle, it has to be drunk within a year..... <_<
i bet some stupid food safety laws have got something to do with this.....

You're kidding? Have you paid for it yet?!!
I'm happy with mine mostly, but there are a few very Anoying problems!!
1. The remote is really fussy - you have to point it right at the TV and sometimes press the buttons umpteen times...
2. I paid extra for this one for Picture-In-Picture, but you can't do certain combinations!!!
For example, I can do PC-in-TV and TV-in-Scart but not TV-in-Scart. I really want to have the FreeView full screen and the news in the little window! I don't undrstand it, Why would they do that!?
But... Nice picture, sounds good - and Zero dead Pixels that I can find :)
£500 i a hell of a lot for a TV... but look at it this way, that's 100 packets of fags... or about 6 Months at the rate I used to smoke! All I have to do is not smoke, then I can pay for it :)
I just hope it's still working in 6 months
RedeyesUK - September 21, 2005 08:52 PM (GMT)
yeah, it's paid for, it's an old one i've got - it's still round my ex's house :(
she's also got my video, DVD and VCR, as well as my cordless drill
it's not that good a telly really, (about 10 years old!) so i'm thinking about getting a new one anyway.
but i'm gonna get me a new car first! B)

Car - yeah, sounds like a priority.
I'm lucky there too, I got a company Mondeo. It's not my 1st choice, or even my 2nd... or 3rd... but the price is right, and when it needs a service / new tyres / tax - some one else gets the bill :)
Kinda makes up a bit for the crap wage... if it wasn't for the tax :(
I'll be standing by Karen again tomorow - I'll try and get a picture ;)
RedeyesUK - September 22, 2005 12:17 AM (GMT)
:)
i had company mondeo once, it was great - had a fuel card too, and the company even paid for all my private miles! unfortunately, after spending 4hrs+ in the thing every day, i ended up hating it....
this car i'm getting is going to be a bit of a project, it's an old classic B) just a bit of fun for the weekends!
PS does Karen mind you standing by her, or is she all 'Eek! it's that damn stalker again!'
:P
